Estate workers demand solution to wage anomalies

A group of estate workers’ union activists took to the streets today (September 11) at the center of the Hatton town to engage in a protest demanding solutions to prevailing wage anomalies, Ada Derana correspondent reported. 

President of the Ceylon Estate Staffs’ Union Dhammika Jayawardene who participated in the protest accused that they are not being provided with an opportunity by estate owners to discuss matter.

He further asserted that they will resort to severe trade union action if their demands are not met.
