Couple arrested for printing fake notes

Serunuwara Police have arrested a couple, from the Batticaloa area, for printing and handling forged currency notes.

The couple had been apprehended while they had attempted to complete a transaction using the counterfeit notes at the Werugal Kovil festival grounds in Serunuwara, police said.

Preliminary investigation had revealed that the couple in question printed the forged notes using computers at a CD store owned by them.

Police are conducting further investigations into the racket.
