Steps are being made to gradually remove Army and other security posts from the Wilpaththu National Park, Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S.M. Chandrasena said today.

He stated that he had requested the Defence Ministry to consider removing security posts set up during the height of the war sparing only those essential.

Tour organizers informed me that it was an inconvenience to have such posts within the national park, he said. Hence we have requested the Defence Secretary to consider removing security posts and camps.
