VIDEO: Special authority covering Colombo and 5 other Municipalities

A special authority covering the Colombo Municipal Council limits and the areas of five other Municipalities will be established by Parliament within a short period of time, Minister Wimal Weerawansa says.

Today not only the city of Colombo but the entire country is undergoing an enormous speedy transformation, the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities said during an event to handover title deeds to public.

If this transformation is to be accomplished properly, the contribution of Urban Councils and Municipal Councils is vital, he expressed.

He also pointed out that the role and task of a Municipality is highly important in taking the speedy development process forward.

Minister Weerawansa further clarified that the government has no intentions of evicting the people of Colombo and resettling them in a different location.
