Fight leads to stabbing of Police Constable

A Police Constable (PC), who had intervened to resolve a quarrel between two groups, was stabbed to death with a sharp object in the Modara area in Moratuwa at around 1am today (Oct 03).


The deceased, a 27-year-old police constable, had been part of a police team dispatched by the Modara police station upon receiving a complaint of a clash between two fractions in the area.


He had been stabbed while attempting to disperse the crowd, witnesses had stated.


However, police have been unable to apprehend any suspect involved in the murder.
