She’s being tagged as Bollywood’s new sex symbol after the success of Murder 2, but Sri Lankan actor Jacqueline Fernandez is clearly looking at the bigger picture now. She’s bagged several new offers and established heroines are watching out for her — all of this has resulted in a happy swing in Fernandez’s walk.

At Meena Bazaar in Mohali recently, Fernandez arrived dressed in a peach-orange Anarkali suit, sky-high heels and purple nail paint complementing the embroidery on her outfit. She looked every bit a star, except for the ill-fitted churidar.

“Murder 2 turned the spotlight on me and I got noticed for my work,” says the actor. After her sensual act in Murder 2, she’s opted for a superhero role in Krrish 2, and equally experimental roles in Housefull 2, Raaz 3 and Total Dhamaal. Fernandez wants to take risks and calls herself “unconventional”. “Something like the youth of today. I don’t want to play safe,” she says.

The only factor that she is firm about is that her films are with big banners. “Big banners make me feel in safe hands,” she says, adding that she’s open to multi-starrers as well. “In multi-starrers, there is far less stress. In Houseful 2, we are four women actors and it was a lot of fun,” she says, adding that she is brushing up her Hindi skills. (IE)
