15-year-old kidnapped, demand Rs. 5 lakh ransom

The Koswatta Police has commenced investigations into the abduction of a youth from the Hal-aduana Catholic Church. The kidnappers have reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs. 500,000 from a priest of the church.

Fr. Don Francis Laus had lodged a complaint at the Koswatta Police stating that the 15-year-old who had been under his care was last seen on November 01 and that he had received a anonymous phone call yesterday (03) demanding Rs. 500,000 as ransom for the safe return of the boy.

The caller had threatened to kill the youth and the priest if the police or anyone else is notified in regard to the kidnapping.

Koswatta Police said that a special police team has been assigned the task and investigations have already commenced.
