UNP Colombo District MP Mohan Lal Grero crossed over to the government bench in Parliament after voting in favor of the Budget 2012 a short while ago.

Grero earlier today (November 30) had stated that he would support the government’s budget as the overall vision of the budget was “positive”.

He stated that he wanted to take this opportunity to help the education system of the country through supporting this budget.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa had arrived in parliament and spoken to Grero after he had conveyed support to the budget.

An educationist, Mohan Lal Grero was a long standing member of the United National Party and is also the UNP organiser for Ratmalana.

However, not long ago the MP had threatened to resign from the post due to a dispute with UNP leadership regarding the Dehiwala-Mt Lavinia Municipal Council. The issue was later resolved following discussions.
