December 19, 2011   11:35 am

UNP MP Palith Range Bandara has been assaulted by a group of government MPs in Parliament today. All MPs of the UNP subsequently walked out from parliament chambers in protest, Ada Derana reporter said.

Range Bandara’s speech in Parliament today, during the committee stage budget debate on the Defence Ministry, was met with constant interruption by Ministers and MPs of the government, right from the beginning, according to Ada Derana parliament reporter.

However the Puttalam District MP had attempted to continue to express his opinions, disregarding his allotted time frame, which then resulted in an argument with government Members of Parliament.

The dispute got carried away and several MPs had attacked Range Bandara, it was reported.
