A tense situation has been reported outside UNP headquarters as party supporters pelt stones at police personnel and Sirikotha building. Several supporters are attempting to break in to Sirikotha, Ada Derana reporter said.

Meanwhile the road between Pita Kotte Junction and Athul Kotte Junction has been closed due to the tense situation.

The tense situation erupted after Ranil Wickramasinghe was reelected as UNP leader, beating leadership candidate Karu Jayasuriya by 48 votes in the election held today.
