The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is to implement a program to inspect establishments which afford services to tourists visiting the country.

Gayan Perera, Junior Manager (Standard and Quality Assurance) of SLTDA said that the program would be carried out through the entire festive season.

Although the establishments, mostly spread in close proximity to coastal areas, should be registered with the Tourism Development Authority, they have not been registered due to certain reasons, he said.

Currently establishments providing various services to tourists are being inspected jointly by the Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka Tourist Police Division, Coast Conservation Department and Excise Department and taking measures to increase their standards, Gayan Perera added.
