Court extends restraining order on Grero’s UNP suspension

The restraining order preventing the suspension UNP MP Mohan Lal Grero’s UNP party membership was extended today (January 12) by the Colombo District Court. MP Grero recently crossed over to the government in parliament.

 

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and other senior officials were named as the respondents for the case.

 

MP Grero submitted a petition stating that his party membership was suspended without a disciplinary hearing or investigation.

 

The petition and the case will be taken up at courts on January 26.
