Staff of the Piliyandala Hospital withdraw from services

The staff of the Piliyandala Hospital including its doctors have withdrawn from services today (Jan 28) due to a certain situation which had risen in the hospital premises yesterday.

General Secretary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) Dr. Chandika Epitakaduwa cited the aggressive behavior of a certain individual towards a female doctor at the hospital as the cause for the move.

The required protection has not been provided to the hospital yet and continuing to work under such conditions is difficult, he pointed out emphasizing necessity to assure the staffs’ security.
