VIDEO: Tense situation in Chilaw after police fire teargas

A tense situation has erupted in Chilaw after police fired tear gas at protesters a short while ago. A shooting has also been reported in the area while Chilaw hospital sources stated that several injured parties have been admitted to hospital.

Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana stated that teargas was fired at the protesters but no shooting had occurred while claiming that the firing of teargas could have been misheard as a gunshot.
