Fuel surcharge imposed on Electricity bills, 25-40% on households

A fuel surcharge of 25% to 40% will be imposed with effect from midnight today on electricity bills for household users based on use, the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said today.


Industries and hotels will be charge a fuel surcharge of 15% while Government Universities and Government Vocational Training Institutes will be charged 25%.

 

Surcharge according to usage;


 0-30 units – 25%

31-60 units – 35%

61 and above – 40%
