Electricity engineers of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have decided to resort to trade union action over the failure of authorities to resolve salary discrepancies.

The media spokesman of the CEB Engineers’ Union, Ajith Vithanage, stated that engineers have presently withdrawn from carrying out any ‘hazardous’ duties.

He stated that several discussions were held with relevant authorities regarding the matter of salary discrepancies, however no proper responses have been received.

Mr. Vithanage further warned that they would engage in strict union action if authorities fail to deliver immediate solutions to the issue.
