Youth dies attempting World Record

A 24-year-old man died in the Pansalgoda area in Wan Ela while training to set a World Record by being buried alive.
After climbing in to a 10-foot deep hole prepared by him, the youth had instructed his mother, a cousin and a friend to fill it with wood and soil and build a fire on top of the hole.
They had proceeded with the operation at around 9.30 am yesterday (March 04) while deceased had instructed his helpers to remove the soil and wood at 4 pm the same day.
However acting according to his instructions they had removed the soil and had found him unconscious at the bottom of the hole.
The youth, a Civil Defence Force (CDF) officer, had passed away after being admitted to the Kantale Hospital, Wan Ela Police said.
