Actress Angela Seneviratne, whose name has been mentioned in recent reports of hashish detection at the Central Mail Exchange, today denied any involvement in the case and pointed out that the only connection was that she had once lived at the house, to which the hashish parcel was addressed to.

Media reports had claimed that parcels alleged to have contained hashish were detected at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange and that they were addressed to the popular actress.

A foreigner had been arrested in connection while the suspect and the contraband were reportedly taken into custody by the Police Narcotics Bureau on Thursday for further investigations.

“Various websites and newspapers in Sri Lanka had carried a hashish case which involved my name and I would like to exonerate myself from this because I am not responsible for any of the dealing in drugs in this country or anywhere else for this matter,” Angela Seneviratne said speaking exclusively to Ada Derana.

She stated that the only connection to her is that she had lived in this house, at No. 67 Hudson Road, Colombo 03, ten years ago. “That is the only relationship I have with this case.”

Seneviratne further said she hopes the narcotics bureau will clear her name tomorrow after they record a statement from her.
