Iran commends religious coexistence in Sri Lanka

Iranian top cleric and cultural advisor of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri today (27) commended the religious coexistence in Sri Lanka.

Ayatollah Taskhiri, head of the world Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, who is in Sri Lanka to attend a conference on “Proximity between Islamic denominations,” met Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne today morning.

He had expressed Iran’s admiration of religious coexistence, composure and brotherliness prevailing in Sri Lanka.

The Iranian Ayatollah had especially expressed his views on the current situation which has surfaced in the Dambulla Buddhist sacred area and approved of the discussion measures taken by the Prime Minister to resolve the issue. (AdaDerana)
