Hatton UC Chairman quits CWC to join UPFA

A senior member of the CWC and current Chairman of Hatton-Dikoya Urban Council, Dr. A Nandakumar has decided to resign from the Ceylon Workers’ Congress, due to personal reasons.

Dr. Nandakumar has informed the CWC leadership regarding this, though a letter sent the main headquarters of the CWC, Saumya Bhavan, sources within the party said.

In his letter the UC chairman has expressed that he had decided to resign from the party due to personal reasons and also that he will join the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in order to continue to serve the public that elected him.

CWC leader Muttu Sivalingam, when inquired by Ada Derana, said it was unfortunate that Nandakumar had quite the party unexpectedly as he was conducted activities of the party well.

However, he said that he had accepted the resignation letter.

Representing the CWC, Dr. A Nandakumar contested the last Local Government election under the UPFA and was elected as the Chairman of Hatton-Dikoya Urban Council by gaining the highest preference votes. (AdaDerana)
