A committee will be formed under Dr. Maiya Gunasekera to investigate those who gave false information to the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) which almost led to the cancellation of the Asian Junior Athletic Championship in Colombo, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated.

Asian Athletics Association on May 21 had cancelled the championship due to a petition filed by former Sri Lanka Athletic Association (SLAA) officials, however Minister Aluthgamage had appealed following which the AAA permitted the Asian Junior Athletic Championship in Colombo to go ahead as scheduled.

Answering a question put forward by UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera in parliament today (May 23) the Minister said that those who are found guilty of giving false information to the AAA will be given a ten year ban on holding any position in sports administration.
