UPFA politicians, intoxicated due excessive power, have now started to cause suffering to the innocent public, says UNP media spokesman Gayantha Karunathilaka citing the recent arrests of UPFA local politicians over child abuse incidents in Akuressa and Tangalle.

He stated that this situation has become so grave that even the country’s President had declared that “it’s not safe for even a child to walk on the road”.

In addition to the economic hardships currently faced by the masses, on one side thefts, large scale crimes and robberies are escalating at a fast rate within the country, the Galle District MP said at a press briefing today.

Even though the government does not have money to save the people from this “abyss” it has more than enough money to waste for foreign trips accommodating mammoth delegations, he said.

Karunathilaka further stated that it is now evident to everyone that the ruling government’s path is not a long one.
