Police investigating death threats against Wimal

The Cinnamon Gardens Police today said it has commenced investigations into alleged death threats against NFF leader and Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

A complaint was filed by the head of the Weerawansa’s security detail, Susira Kumara with the Cinnamon Gardens Police, regarding several threatening telephone calls received by the Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister.

The Cinnamon Gardens Police informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today that an extensive investigation is ongoing and that they are looking into two specific phone numbers, from which the calls had been made.

Police also said that they are to record a statement from Minister Wimal Weerawansa regarding the threats.
