July 30, 2012   11:30 am

Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake says that the report detailing the implementation of the Z-score results will be handed over to the President this evening.

President Rajapaksa on Wednesday (25) had directed the Minister Dissanayaka to forward a comprehensive report on the Z-score issue immediately.

Participating in the monthly meeting of media heads today, the Higher Education Minister said the report will be submitted in the evening.

2011 GCE Advanced Level Examination Z-score results were recalculated for old and new syllabus separately  and re-released on July 22, after the Supreme Court had ordered the University Grants Commission (UGC) to annul z-score calculation for examination.

Prez looking for win-win situation with Dons

Meanwhile President Mahinda Rajapaksa, speaking on the university lecturers’ issue, said he’s looking for a solution which will be a ‘win-win situation’ for both parties involved.

He made this comments speaking to Heads of media institutions at a breakfast meeting held at Temple Trees today (30).

Minister Dissanayake however said around 10 percent of university lecturers had reported to work today, after the government had invited them to return to duties on Monday considering the future of the students.

The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) had rejected the invitation, saying the strike action will not end until their demands are met.
