The Ceylon Teachers’ Services Union today called on education authorities to annul the Grade 5 scholarship examination held on Sunday and conduct the examination again, as they have received reliable information that the exam papers were leaked.

Yesterday’s scholarship examination had caused injustice to hundreds of thousands of students, therefore it should be held again to do right by them, General Secretary of the CTSU Mahinda Jayasinghe said.

Addressing a press conference today, he stated that examination irregularities were reported from several areas and that on Saturday (25) evening the 2nd paper of the scholarship exam was provided to students and parents at a private tuition class in Debarawewa, in Padaviya Ruwanpura area, Rambukkana town, Anuradhapura and Polgahawela.

The public has lost faith in the exams held by the Examinations Department, and to restore that fairht they should conduct the scholarship examination again, Jayasinghe emphasized.
