
UPDATE: Malaka Silva surrenders

Malaka Silva and others have surrendered to the Slave Island police. The police mentioned in their statement that the group surrendered over the alleged assault on an Army Major.
Police previously stated that the Army Major was injured and hospitalized after being assaulted by Malaka Silva, son of Minister Mervin Silva at a five-star hotel in Colombo on September 8.
The victim of the assault was taken to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment, Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana stated.
Malaka Silva and four others who surrendered will be produced before the Fort Magistrate by the Colombo Crimes Division later today (September 17).
