High Level road bus strike called off

The strike action implemented by the private bus operators on the 138 route on High Level Road have decided to call off their strike action, the Private Bus Operators Association President Gemunu Wijeyratne stated.

 

The strike action was called today (October 18) due to certain irregularities in issuing route permits.

 

Due to the strike many people including school children were caused great inconvenience, an Ada Derana correspondent reported.

 

However, President of the PBOA Gemunu Wijeyratne told Ada Derana that the strike was called off after the bus operators had come to an agreement with the Western Provincial Council.

 

He further added that buses will operate as usual on the High Level road shortly.
