Jaffna Uni gets male, female hostels, new buildings

The Cabinet today granted approval for the construction of Hostels for 400 males and 400 females at a total cost of Rs. 654.4 million, phasing it out over a period of five years commending from 2013 and subject to stipulated conditions. The proposal was made by S.B.Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education.

 


Excerpt of Cabinet Decisions pertaining to the Jaffna University;

 

Construction Seven Storied Building for the Faculty of Graduates Studies, University of Colombo.

Cabinet approval was given to award construction of Stage 1 of the above building for a total cost of Rs. 125,427,539.73 as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee. This proposal was made by Hon S.B.Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education.

 

Construction of proposed Male and Female Hostels with 400 beds each for the, University of Jaffna.

The Jaffna University currently offers a number of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses for about 6000 students and at present there are more than 1300 outstation students in the University. Cabinet approval was given to construct Hostels for 400 males and 400 females at a total cost of Rs. 654.4 million, phasing it out over a period of five years commending from 2013 and subject to stipulated conditions. This proposal was made by Hon S.B.Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education.

 

Construction of proposed buildings for the Faculty of Engineering at Ariviyal Nagar, Killinochchi, University of Jaffna.

Cabinet approval was given for the construction of the above buildings adjoining the faculty of Agriculture, initially with the under mentioned Departments at a total Rs. 2,437 million and to implement this project phasing out over a period of five years commencing from 2013 and subject to stipulated conditions.

- Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

- Department of Computer Engineering

- Department of Inter-disciplinary Studies.

 This proposal was made by Hon S.B.Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education
