Journalist run over by lorry in Colombo

A young female journalist employed at a local newspaper was killed after being run over by a lorry in Rosmead Place, Colombo 07 this morning.

The accident had occurred at around 10.00am today, while she was on her way to work, when the driver of the lorry had reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The 22-year-old young journalist, Amila Mendis Jayasinghe, was killed in the accident which had also caused severe damage to a nearby wall.

The lorry driver has been arrested over the incident.
