Three members of the same family were found dead in a home at Sagara Mawatha in Panadura, police stated. The victims were the father, mother and an eight month old baby.

The bodies were found this morning (February 28), by the Panadura South police after they received a 119 call regarding a foul smell that was coming from the residence in which the bodies were found.

The police found the owner of the house hanging from a beam of the ceiling in the hall of the residence while the mother was found dead on a chair while the infant was found on a mattress.

Police stated that the bodies were bloated at the time while there was blood around the area where the bodies were found. Police suspect that the deaths occurred around two days ago.

The Panadura Police are conducting further inquiries into the murder.
