Man attempting to kill wife shot dead by police

Police today shot and killed a man attempting to physically harm his wife over a family dispute at a residence in Thelagala, Minuwangoda and managed to rescue the victim, who had suffered stab wounds.
A high-ranking police officer in charge of Gampaha stated that they had received a 119 distress call regarding a domestic disturbance, where a man was attempting to murder his wife.
A team of officers from the Minuwangoda Police Station had arrived on the scene to find that the woman had been attacked with a sharp object by her husband, over a family dispute.
Police then opened fire on him to rescue the woman from further harm. She has been admitted to hospital, police said.
