Private bus operators will stage an island-wide strike sometime next week if the government does not take a firm decision on the bus fare revision, President of the Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne stated.

Speaking at a press conference held today (July 3) he also charged that the National Transport Commission had not taken any action regarding the fare revision.

The PBOA is also planning on suing the NTC and the Transport Authority of four Provinces for its failure to adhere to protocol on revising the bus fares, Wijeratne stated.
