Met Department warns of rough seas

The Met Department today said that wind speed may increase up to 60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Galle and sea areas off the coast extending from Jaffna to Trincomalee and will be rough at times.

Showers will occur at times in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western and Southern provinces and may extend to North-Western Province too.

Some showers can be expected in the Northern Province and sea areas off the North coast, it said.

Thundershowers will develop at a few places in the Eastern, North-central and Uva provinces during the afternoon or evening. 

The Department of Meteorology also requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
