Ramith Rambukwella fined 50% of his tour earnings over plane incident

Sri Lanka A team cricketer Ramith Rambukwella will be fined 50% of his tour fees following an incident on a British Airways flight bound to London, sources confirmed.

The player was given a stern warning concerning the incident as well.

A Sri Lankan cricketer later confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket as Ramith Rambukwella searching for the lavatory on a trans-Atlantic flight allegedly caused panic among passengers when he tried to open the cabin door at 35,000ft.

The Sri Lankan was said to have pushed and pulled for up to two minutes at the exterior door on the packed British Airways flight from St Lucia to Gatwick after playing against the West Indies.

Sri Lanka Cricket directed retired SSP Lakshman de Silva to conduct an inquiry into the incident involving Rambukwella.
Allegations have been made that the player was under the influence of alcohol at the time as well.
