Herman Gunaratne released on bail

Southern Provincial Council UNP member Maithri Gunaratne’s father Herman Gunaratne, who was arrested in connection with a shooting incident, was released on bail by the Matara Magistrate Court today (November 5).

 

Herman Gunaratne was arrested over a shooting incident which took place in the Matara town during a clash between two sets of UNP supporters.

 

He was remanded by the court on several occassions when the case was brought up and yesterday he was unable to meet the bail terms and was remanded again until today.

 

He was released today on a Rs.25,000 surety bail and two sets of Rs.100,000 personal bail.

 

The suspect was also ordered to present himself at court again on November 18 when the case is taken up again.
