The fire which broke out at a temporarily built hall at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) premises has been completely doused with the help of firefighters, Ada Derana reporter said.

The fire erupted at a temporary hall built within the premises of the BMICH this morning.

Firefighters rushed to the location of the fire and have managed to douse the flames.

Meanwhile all exhibitions being held at the BMICH premises are continuing as usual.

Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga stated that the exhibitions are continuing in other locations within the premises.

The convention center, located in Colombo, was the venue for the recent Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

It was refurbished ahead of the summit and declared open by the President.

The refurbishment of the building complex was seen as the first time ever BMICH underwent such a major refurbishment since its inception.
