More fake currency surfaces in Udugama

A person was arrested in the Eppala area in Udugama today for the possession of 26 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination.

The arrest was made by Udugama Police, acting on information received.

The confiscated fake money is reportedly similar to the counterfeit currency detected on Thursday (23) in the Udugama area.

The arrested suspect had been wanted by police in connection to several crimes and is to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate tomorrow (27).

On Thursday (23) police arrested two persons in the Panangala area in Udugama for the possession of fake money.

A total of nine fake notes of the Rs 1,000 denomination and four notes of Rs 500 denomination were found in the possession of the suspects.

A computer, scanner and a printer used for printing the counterfeit currency was also taken into custody.
