The Elections Secretariat says that it has so far received 40 complaints in connection with the forthcoming Western and Southern Provincial Council election.

Of the total complaints 28 are from the Western Province while the rest are from the Southern Province.

A majority of the complaints are regarding the misuse of state-owned vehicles, the use of state property and officials for political activities.

Complaints pertaining to transfer orders are also among them, the Elections Secretariat said.

The special complaints unit of the Elections Secretariat had been operational since January 20 in view of the Provincial Council polls in the Western and Southern provinces.
