UPFA PS member accused of assault and robbery surrenders to police

Arachchikattuwa UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member, A.H. Udaya Shantha who was allegedly involved in assaulting a businessman and stealing a gold chain surrendered to the police this evening (January 5) to the Pallama police.

 

The victim of the assault, A.A.M. Rambanda, who is a 64-year-old businessman from Wilpata, Chilaw, was admitted to the Chilaw general hospital for treatment.

 

The assault occurred on February 4. The politician allegedly broke into the businessman’s shop in Wilpata, assaulted him and stole his 1˝ pound chain last night.

 

The suspect handed himself over to police but the chain has not yet been recovered.

 

The Pallama police are conducting further inquiries.
