Several Health Ministry officials are reportedly ignoring a tender put forward by a company prepared to supply a certain cancer drug at the price of Rs 38,000 instead of the Rs 78,000 it currently spends to purchase the same drug.

According to sources within the Ministry of Health a company had put forward the tender several months back to provide the medicinal drug at a price which is Rs 40,000 less than the current cost.

A committee had been appointed to look into the tender and the quality of the drug in question.

However, internal sources reveal that the committee has not submitted a report even after 3 months have passed and that it is being delayed in order to purchase the drug for the price of Rs 78,000.
