133 election related complaints so far - CaFFE

The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) says it has received 133 complaints of election law violations and incidents of election related violence as of Tuesday (February 11).
These include 129 reports of election law violations and four incidents of election related violence, the election watchdog, which commenced its election monitoring on January 16, said in a statement.
The highest number of complaints (65) is regarding illegal election propaganda campaigns while there are 52 complaints on the misuse of public property, which includes using government vehicles, properties as well as deploying and manipulating state employees.
Two incidents, of assault and shooting, have been reported from Hambantota district and another incident was reported from Galle.
However highest number of incidents from the Southern province has been reported from Matara district (12), CaFFE said.
Meanwhile CaFFE has received nine complaints from Galle and four from Hambantota. These coupled with eight general complaints covering the three districts have brought the total complaints reported from the province to 33.
Most number of complaints were received from Colombo district (42) while 18 complaints from Kalutara district, 15 complaints from Gampaha district have also been reported.
These coupled with 16 general complaints covering all three districts have brought the total complaints reported from Western province to 91.
However only one incident of election violence has been reported from the province, it said.
