EU to support war crimes probe

The European Union stated that it will actively support efforts to enhance accountability and reconciliation in Sri Lanka, including a credible and independent investigation into alleged war crimes.
The EU Foreign Affairs Council adopted today when it met in Brussels a series of conclusions on the EU priorities at the UN Human Rights Fora in March.
On the matter concerning Sri Lanka the EU stated that it will “actively support efforts to enhance accountability and reconciliation in Sri Lanka, including a credible and independent investigation into the alleged severe crimes during the civil war, as well as to address the current human rights situation in the country”.
