Nizamuddin leaves Rishad to join Hakeem

Former Deputy Minister S. Nizamuddin has resigned from the Rishad Bathiudeen-led All Ceylon Makkall Congress (ACMC) and today joined the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC).

Nizamuddin obtained membership of the party in the presence of SLMC leader and Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem at the latter’s residence today (4). SLMC Political Wing Director MP H.M.M. Harris was also present during the ceremony.

Nizamuddin was a former member of the SLMC, which he had joined in 1998, before crossing over to Minister Bathiudeen’s party in 2010. He was a Central Committee member and National Propaganda Secretary of the All Ceylon Makkall Congress.

He had contested and lost two elections from the party from Kegalle and Ampara districts.
