SLBFE warns against foreign employment using tourist visa

SLBFE warns against foreign employment using tourist visa

March 11, 2014   03:02 pm

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) today requested the public to refrain from going for employment in the Middle East or elsewhere using tourist visa, as the bureau will not take any responsibility for those who do so.

The Foreign Employment Bureau says that information has been uncovered regarding an illegal racket which deploys women for employment in countries such as Saudi Arabia, through Dubai and India using tourist visas.

These profiteers have sent Sri Lankans for employment in Saudi through sub agents by avoiding basic training required for foreign employment, family background reports and other documents.

The bureau also urged the public to report any information regarding such human smugglers by calling the hotline No. 011-2879900.
