Police nab 1488 drunk drivers

The Police Department today revealed that 1488 motorists have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, following the special operation launched to curb road accidents in view of the festive season.


The Police Spokesman’s Office stated that 173 of them were nabbed within the past 24 hours.


Twelve bus drivers, 814 motorcyclists, 526 three-wheeler drivers and 136 drivers of other vehicles are among the total DUI arrests from April 10.


The Police Spokesman’s Office stated that the special operation to apprehend drunk drivers would continue across the country, covering all police divisions, until April 20.
