Jayantha Perera appointed Navy Commander

Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera has been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy with effect from July 1, sources told Ada Derana.  

 

Rear Admiral Perera joined the Sri Lanka Navy on August 23, 1978.

 

Rear Admiral holds the appointment of Director General Operations.

 

He held the appointments of Commander Western Naval Area and Commander Southern Naval Area and was the Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area during the Humanitarian Operation.

 

He has also held many staff appointments, which include Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Director Naval Operations and Special Force, Director Naval Weapon, Deputy Director Naval Intelligence, Deputy Director Naval Training, Media Spokesman of the Sri Lanka Navy and Principal Staff Officer to the Chief of Defence Staff.

 

He assumed duties as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy on July 5, 2013.
