VIDEO: Three women held with gold worth over Rs 10 million

Three women have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake for attempting to smuggle gold worth over Rs 10 million out of the country this morning.
Two of the arrested women had attempted to board a flight to Bangalore with 2 gold pieces and 4 gold chains, weighing 1kg and 707g in total, concealed in their baggage.
They are estimated to be worth around Rs 8,595,000 while the arrested women are residents of Trincomalee and Batticaloa, customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.
Meanwhile another woman was arrested this morning attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 2,085,000 to Chennai by concealing it in her luggage. She too is a resident of Batticaloa.
