Five injured after boat catches fire

September 29, 2014   11:14 am

Five persons were wounded and hospitalised after their fishing boat suddenly caught fire mid-sea.

The Police Spokesman’s Office said that fire broke out after the fishermen had set out to sea from the Rekawa Fisheries Harbour last evening.

The injured persons have been admitted to the Tangalle Base Hospital.

Police suspect that a technical fault in the boat’s engine had caused the fire.
