Fire breaks out at shops in Fort

A row of shops at First Cross Street in Fort have been destroyed by a fire, which broke out at around midnight, last night. 

Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that the fire was extinguished with the assistance of the fire brigade and the Fort police, within few hours. 

It was reported that a textile shop, communication centre and an electric equipment shop were completely destroyed in the fire. 

No causalities reported following the incident. A team from the Government Analyst’s Department will visit the scene for further investigations.
