Seven families evacuated in Samanalagama

Several families residing in the Samanalagama area in Hatton have been shifted to safer locations by the Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretary, due to a risk of landslides.

Accordingly 28 persons belonging to 7 families have been evacuated and sent to a temporary shelter.

Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G. Kumarasiri stated that measures were taken to evacuate the families following a notice issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO).

He also stated that the inclement weather conditions which had affected the central mountain region in the country for the past several days, has somewhat eased as of today.
